Skill Development Training to Vegetable growers



 

ICAR – Krishi Vigyan Kendra in association with NABARD, Thoothukudi had organised a three days skill development training to vegetable growers, with the intention of promotion of Hybrid vegetable cultivation among farmers of Thoothukudi district for higher yield and income.  30 beneficiaries were selected from TN Kulam village which is adopted village of KVK, Thoothukudi under “Doubling Farmer’s Income by 2022”

            During first two days of training experts from KVK handled the session on various topics like Hybrid Vegetable Cultivation Practices, Nursery Management, Integrated Pest Management in Vegetables, Marketing of Vegetable with Minimal Processing and Post-Harvest Technologies. Then Mr. Pandiyarajan, Horticultural officer has elaborated the schemes available with Dept. of Horticulture. Later, Mr. Ganesan, Manager, Pandiyan Grama Bank, Kayathar branch detailed about the credit facilities available in the bank to the farmers.

            On third day, the trainees were taken exposure visit to Sakkamaalpuram village. Here, Mr. Saravanana, progressive farmer has explained poly house cultivation of cucumber. The trainees witnessed the pol house and interacted with the farmer.

            During valedictory session Mr.Vijayapandian DDM, NABARD Thoothukudi, Dr.V.Srinivasan Senior scientist and Head (i/c) and scientists Mr. Velmurugan, Mr. Murugan, Mr. P.K. Muthukumar and Mr. Bhagavathsingh awarded the participation certificates and booklet to the trainees.
